Carving Gallery

The Adirondack Carousel carvers were selected based on their skills, carving sophistication, structural characteristics, and quality of trappings and embellishments after careful review of submitted bios and photos of previous work. Each agreed to select an animal found in the Adirondack Park, to decorate with Adirondack-related articles, flora and fauna (and to include a ladybug somewhere on the animal) following guidelines of traditional construction, sanding and priming. Photos were requested throughout that demonstrated the four stages of carving before final acceptance was determined.

Golden Paints™ is the sponsor of all Carousel paint products. Carvers (and painters) were allowed to choose their paint colors from Golden brochures with the requirement to use GAR200, a product that helps keep the finish mar resistant. Varnish is the final finish.

There are many ways to give…

To make the Adirondack Carousel a reality, we have undertaken a $1.3 million fundraising campaign to build a year-round 3,600 sq. ft. pavilion that will house a full size-carousel, art gallery and workshop/classroom space, and include the construction of an adjacent playground.

There are still limited quantities of permanently engraved pavers available
to help build the path to the Adirondack Carousel pavilion.
