Bass (Large Mouth)

Official Name: Flipper

Sponsor: Louis Rubin, Rainbow Lake

Carver: Fanning Garage Grinders is a group of carvers made up of a mother and her two daughters. Eileen Fanning, a master carver residing in Lake Pleasant, NY, has been carving for 20 years. Her most notable project was carving 16-panel doors for a church in her hometown, Endicott, NY. Her favorite carving experience was working with master carvers of the Cactus Carvers Club in Arizona.

Eileen’s daughters, Pamela Chappell (Schenectady, NY) and Patricia Livingston (Newport Beach, CA) both inherited their mother’s love of carving. Pamela, a carver for 10 years, met the Adirondack Carousel’s Karen Loffler at a carving show in Albany, NY and, when learning of the project, was thrilled at the prospect of having work immortalized forever in the form of such a worthwhile community project. A few years prior, her group had actually carved a large-mouthed bass, so their choice was an easy one. Patricia has been carving since 1993 and spent many years in the Adirondacks. She carved an Eagle Kachina doll, a saw-whet owl, a 12-inch carousel horse and a large-mouth bass in the Fanning garage. She has taken classes with world-class California carving instructors, and enjoys carving and learning from her Mom.

A special thank you to Carl Borst for lending his expertise in putting the large-mouth bass blank together!

There are many ways to give…

To make the Adirondack Carousel a reality, we have undertaken a $1.3 million fundraising campaign to build a year-round 3,600 sq. ft. pavilion that will house a full size-carousel, art gallery and workshop/classroom space, and include the construction of an adjacent playground.

There are still limited quantities of permanently engraved pavers available
to help build the path to the Adirondack Carousel pavilion.
