Myrl Phelps joined the Adirondack Carousel family of carvers when he responded to an article in Chip-Chats magazine asking for volunteers to carve carousel animals for Saranac Lake.

After 35 years as a residential carpenter, doing mostly custom interior finish work and remodeling, he decided to attend the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship to hone his woodworking skills where he took a nine-month comprehensive furniture class under David Upfill-Brown. Myrl has also taken many carving lessons from Dimitrios Klitsas along with assorted drawing and painting courses, hoping to some day bring them all together in his work. With a focus on furniture and woodworking, he strives to do the best possible work to satisfy himself and his customers.
